We are pleased to present the 2017 East Coast Iaido seminar, shinsa and taikai.

SEMINAR SCHEDULE

Saturday, March 11: 9am - 5pm Seminar (with lunch break)

Saturday night: Group dinner at Grand China Buffet

Sunday, March 12: 9am* - 5pm Taikai and Shinsa (with lunch break)

* PLEASE NOTE THERE IS A TIME CHANGE EARLY SUNDAY MORNING. CLOCKS MOVE ONE HOUR FORWARD.

ADVANCE EVENTS

Wednesday, March 8: 6pm - 8pm
Yanagihara Sensei will be at Ken-Zen Institute.
This event is open to all. Free will be $10 cash at the door.

Thursday, March 9: 7:45pm - 9:15pm
Yanagihara Sensei will be at Shidogakuin practice.
There will be no Kendo practice that night.
This event is open to all. Fee will be $10 cash at the door.

Friday, March 10: 10am - 1pm
Yanagihara Sensei will be at Ken-Zen Institute.
This event is open to Kodansha only (4 dan and up).
Fee will be $10 cash at the door.

LUNCH

Lunch will be available on Saturday and Sunday, in the school’s cafeteria. The cost is $15 per person per day. Only hot dishes will be offered.

GROUP DINNER

The cost for Saturday night dinner is $22 per person. The dinner is BYOB.

Forms must be received by the deadline: March 2, 2017.

SEMINAR

An Iaido seminar will be held on Saturday, March 11, from 9 am - 3 pm.

Seminar fee: $100.00

TAIKAI

A competition will be held the morning of Sunday, March 13, starting at 9 am.

There is no separate charge for the Taikai.

You will need to sign up for the Taikai (this is a change from last year, when people were automatically entered).

There will be 7 divisions: mudansha A (starting with no-rank), mudansha B (up to 1 kyu), 1 dan, 2 dan, 3 dan, 4 dan, 5 dan.

Taikai fee: NO FEE

SHINSA

A promotion test will be held on the morning and afternoon of Sunday, March 12.

You must attend the seminar to take examination. No exceptions!

Examination up to 3 dan will be available to seminar participants.

Non-AUSKF members must be a member of a Kendo Federation recognized by the International Kendo Federation, and must have written permission from their country’s Kendo Federation President.

If you are a member of GNEUSKF, AEUSKF or EUSKF you do not need to provide the signature or confirming email from your Federation president. Members of other Federations will need to provide a signature or email showing that your Federation president is aware of, and approves of, your testing at this event.

If you do not sit in sieza, and you have previously provided a doctor's note, it is not necessary to provide another. You do need to let us know if you cannot sit in seiza, so that we can provide standing-only kata for you.

Shinsa fee: $15.00

FRIDAY KODANSHA EVENT (PAY AT THE DOOR)

There will be a preliminary Kodansha (4 dan and up) event on Friday morning March 10, 2017 at KenZen Dojo. 10 am to 1pm.

Cost: $10 cash at the door.
